After attending this course, social workers and counselors will be able to
- formulate introductory knowledge of animal inclusion in therapy,
- interpret and analyze the changes on updated terminology in AAT,
- identify and assess animal behavior and create safety space for appropriate animal welfare,
- demonstrate a working knowledge with the ACA/APA ethics and ethical considerations with animal inclusion and the Core Competencies.
Social workers completing this course will receive 1 clinical continuing educational credit, 3 general continuing education credits, and 1.25 ethics continuing education credits.
Counselors receive 5.25 NBCC CE credits.





About the Instructor
Victoria Mexcur is a licensed mental health and drug and alcohol counselor offering services in North Carolina (LCMHCS) and Nebraska (LIMHP). She has a Masters of Science from the University of Nebraska Kearney and a post masters Equine Assisted Mental Health Practitioner Certificate from the University of Denver, Colorado. Victoria has several animals that are integrated into therapeutic sessions and she specializes in trauma, PTSD, high performance anxiety, and building resiliency. In her free time she enjoys traveling and time with her animals and husband.
